One here on Erica's new site that ONLY connects via Facebook and has built in "like" and "share" features:

http://www.classicpeach.com/classic-peach/might-as-well-face-it-im-addicted-to-pillows

Very cool and streamlined!

The second uses "Intense Debate" and is built for a much wider audience on Il Palazzone:
http://www.ilpalazzone.com/news/montalcino-insider-tips-accomodation/

It is also streamlined but offers a host of features including connecting via Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress.com and OpenID that I felt Erica's smaller site just did not need!

The nail in the coffin for TV, Radio, Magazines, Books and Newspapers

Google TV

http://www.google.com/tv/

This is the exact worst nightmare for traditional media in every form. This is a wild and amazing dream for guys like me that have been watching it all unfold from day one. The Google World Domination Tour continues and it's intense and if you and your business aren't aligned with Google (this includes Youtube) you are making a big mistake.

Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Turner Broadcasting, HBO, NBC, CNBC, The NBA, The New York Times, USA Today, VEVO, Pandora, Twitter, and of course Facebook (and the list goes on exponentially!)

Google TV is bringing the true Internet and streaming video to your TV! So now we have Google on our desktop PC, in our smartphone and now on our TV.

I will post more about this soon, this is really an amazing time!

If you would like Bakermedia to help your Google and Youtube presence, please feel free to reach out!

QR Code 101 - deliver anything to your [mobile] customers instantly

  • direct links
  • youtube videos
  • google maps
  • text messages
  • specials

The Droid comes equipped with Google Goggles or you can install the "Barcode Scanner" app. You hold your phones camera to this code and instantly be diverted to the embedded link.

For anyone with a Google Places account, you can download and print your QR code right now or use this simple, free QR code generator to make one now. Use of the Google Places QR code is amazingly important. Users can navigate directly to your Places page and add reviews, find your web site, hours and navigable directions. You can put a QR code on a business card, in a magazine or on a web site. (see example here)

Erica pointed out a QR code in the Fall Pottery Barn catalog and it immediately took me to a video advertisement on Youtube. From paper to video in 2 seconds.

If you would like help setting this up or learning more about Google, Social Media and how it can directly impact your small business please reach out!

The "check-in" - Location based marketing 101

Location Based Marketing: Foursquare, Facebook Places
http://foursquare.com
http://www.facebook.com/places

Lets keep this really basic.

Location based marketing is simply having your customers and clients check in when they are present at your venue (store, salon, restaurant, offices) via a mobile device. (Iphone, Driod, Blackberry)

Why is this important and amazing? 2 simple reasons:

  • You can create campaigns for people to claim if and only if they are present in your business
  • You create a new community based on loyalty to your brand.

When a user checks in they alert their friends on various social networks (direct to Facebook newsfeed, Twitter, Wordpress) essentially promoting your brand, for free.

Foursquare uses Google maps, Facebook is using Bing. If I had to put money on one or the other I would go Foursquare. Facebook isn't an application designed specifically for check-ins, it's kind of an afterthought inserted as a cool feature, but both will prove to be invaluable!

We dedicate ourselves to implementing new technologies and trends as they arise. Please reach out if you need help

[mp3] 9 Social media questions answered by Bakermedia - Sep 01

I'd like to throw some free consulting out there to anyone interested!

Here are the questions:

1. Share with us some specific, successful track record of using social media to bolster a business (sales, etc.)
2. What was your exact role in the social media initiatives (developing the site? Plan and strategy? Managing blogs?)
3. How would you build and manage a social media “business” for X?
4. What would you do in the first 30 days? 60 days? 1 year?
5. What tools you have used?
6. Experience with developing a marketing plan and a strategy for an organization?
7. An example of a branded online social community you have built
8. Celebrity blogger of brand evangelist you have identified
9. Any smart monitoring tools you have used for action oriented insights

I would also like to note that these answers would have been completely different a year ago and will be completely different a year from now.

Oxford Greens now has 384 total search terms and through various levels of SEO and Google app integration, and
http://www.OxfordGreens.com is rising quickly! This is in addition from a brand new website built on a custom Wordpress installation and theme, some quick and effective video inserts, facebook and twitter integration, and staff training.

I have spent a lot of time researching the age old question business owners ask FIRST: "How do I get better placement in Google"

Does your business need help getting noticed? Does your staff need training?
